May I keep my baby in my room? You may keep your baby as much or as little as you like, as long as your baby is well. The nursery nurses will check on you and your baby on a regular schedule and more frequently if your baby's condition warrants.
May I have a private room? All of our LDR and post-partum rooms are private.
How many people are allowed in the room at the time of birth? The number of people allowed in the room at the time of birth is determined by your doctor and may change if you or your baby's condition changes.
When are visiting hours? General visiting hours at Paradise Valley Hospital are 10:00am to 8:00pm.
Are siblings allowed to visit and are there any age restrictions? All visiting siblings must be free of infectious diseases and cold symptoms. Siblings of all ages are allowed, but children under 12 may be restricted during respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) season (usually during January through March). Siblings must leave the hospital at the end of visiting hours and may not spend the night.
Can my baby go to the nursery at any time? You may ask that your baby be cared for in the nursery at any time. The nursery is staffed with experienced nursery nurses 24 hours a day.
What security measures do you have to protect my baby? The Women's Center has an electronic infant security system. The nursery is locked at all times. Your baby should only be released to a hospital employee who is wearing a photo hospital badge with a red border.
If I need a cesarean birth, where will it be done? The hospital labor and delivery unit has its own surgical suite for unplanned cesarean births. Scheduled cesarean births are done in the main operating rooms.
Will my support person be allowed to attend a cesarean birth? It is up to the physician whether or not your support person can be present.
Do you have lactation specialists on staff? Yes, we have lactation consultants on staff at Paradise Valley Hospital. Also, all of our Women's Center nurses are well trained and can assist you. If you need assistance, ask your nurse.
How long can I stay after delivery? You can stay up to 48 hours for a vaginal delivery, and 96 hours for a cesarean birth. Your stay begins once the baby is delivered.
