Paradise Valley Hospital offers a variety of educational classes and programs for you and your family. In addition to childbirth education classes, we also offer parent support groups. Some of our scheduled classes include:
Pre & Post Natal Exercise for Women - This course is designed to improve your overall energy level and stamina; relieve discomfort; improve posture, circulation and digestion. The class provides for a safe and effective workout utilizing the exercise guidelines set forth by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for pre/post partum women. One-on-one pre/postnatal personal training sessions are also available.
Tours of the Women's Center - This one hour informational presentation includes: a question and answer session; visits to the labor and delivery, postpartum and nursery areas; and after normal business hours entry instructions. Register early as each tour is limited to 24 participants. No children allowed on tour.
Prepared Childbirth Series - This series of five classes covers topics such as modified Lamaze relaxation and breathing techniques, comfort measures, final weeks of pregnancy, the coach's role, pain relief, Cesarean, vaginal delivery and postpartum care. A tour of the Women's Center is also provided.
Childbirth Crash Course - This one-day, intensive class is offered every other month and covers modified Lamaze relaxation and breathing techniques, the coach's role, pain relief options, delivery and postpartum care. A tour of the Women's Center is also given.
Boot Camp for New Dads - This class pairs veteran dads with rookies where everything from how to hold a newborn, to how to understand a new mother's feelings, is discussed in an open, supportive atmosphere.
Sibling Class - This class, designed for children 3 years and older, prepares your child for the arrival of a new brother or sister. Discussions include feelings about becoming big brothers and sisters, newborn baby issues and ways to ease the transition of a new baby into the family. This class also includes a tour of the Women's Center and a parent-assisted show and tell by the children. Children are asked to bring a favorite toy for show-and-tell. An adult must accompany each child. A video is available for older children.
